SPEND A GREAT DAY IN GOOD COMPANY
The Travel-and-Type course leader is Alistair Fraser, an experienced travel writer, tutor and press and communications consultant.
His in-depth knowledge of the media combined with extensive experience as a professional trainer ensure that his workshops are informative and supportive.
Alistair's writing appears regularly in Britain's leading publications such as the Guardian and the Telegraph. Recently commissioned articles include walking in North Cyprus; skiing in Val d'Isere; and tracing family roots in Malaysia. To see examples of his published work, click here.
Besides his travel writing, he is the director of Travel-and-Type workshops and is a media advisor to tour operators and travel PR businesses throughout the UK.
Alistair has lived in France, where he worked as a journalist, and has held senior editorial positions at the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, including the role of chief sub-editor on the Travel section.
He has also taught advanced feature writing at City University, London, and has seen many of his former students join national papers.
Alistair knows how difficult it is to get your first piece of work published. He also understands why a workshop might seem nerve-wracking. What if other people's writing seems so much better? What if some course members laugh at your efforts?
Because he understands those feelings - having been there himself - he ensures that everyone on the course receives sympathetic and constructive feedback. Workshop numbers are kept low deliberately. This means people don't feel intimidated by a large group and it leaves time for one-on-one mentoring.
And because this course is just the start of your new journey, you may still struggle to begin with - so we want to help you find your way, even after the workshop has finished. That's why everyone who attends a workshop has the opportunity to submit future work-in-progress for a free appraisal.
On a Travel-and-Type workshop, you will come a long way in a short time. You'll spend a great day in good company, meeting new people, and developing a skill that papers and magazines will be willing to pay for. To join one of our courses, click here.
